An independent income means a better life for a woman in India
India is a huge and rapidly expanding economy and the middle class is growing with it. But the underclass – around 700 to 800 million people – still lives on 2 dollars per day. Rural areas in particular struggle with work opportunities, meaning that families lack an income and depend on others in life.
A job means an income for women. A chance for economic independence. If we create suitable jobs for women in rural India, we help break through the cycle of poverty in these areas. Experience shows that women spend their money on their families so children attend school, and have the chance of a better future as a result.
